What is the difference between a 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 hot tap?

A 3-in-1 hot tap provides - standard hot/cold mixed water, and filtered 98 degree hot water.

A 4-in-1 hot tap provides - standard hot/cold mixed water, filtered 98 degree hot water, and filtered cold water.

So to put in plainly - a 4-in-1 tap gives you filtered cold water as an extra feature. A 3-in-1 tap only gives you filtered near boiling water. Both give standard mixed water.

Both products require a filter change every 4 or 6 months - depending on how hard the water is in your area. Our specially developed filters stop the build up of limescale in your tank (keeping them working efficiently) and they are fully recyclable too.

What are the pros and cons of boiling water taps?

Pros

  • Hot water taps provide instant hot water. No need to wait for a kettle to heat up.
  • Some hot water taps come with a flexi-hose to make cleaning easier.
  • Purchasing a hot water tap with a safety lock keeps your family safe from accidents.
  • If you have mobility issues, an instant hot water tap eliminates the need to lift and pour.
  • Filtered hot water taps remove bad chemicals, taste and odour in the water.

Cons

  • The cost of the appliance is dearer than a standard kettle.
  • Some cupboard space will be lost due to the hot water tank.
  • Installation may require a professional (if you're not a comfortable DIYer) which could be an additional cost.
How do I install a boiling water tap?

Fitting a hot water tap does sound like a big job, but an INTU hot water tap replaces your standard kitchen tap and installation is quick and simple. We recommend using a professional installer unless you are a confident DIYer. 

Installation of a boiling water tap

  1. Turn off your water supply and run the hot and cold taps in your home to drain the pipes of water. It’s important to keep the taps open throughout this process.
  2. Remove everything from under the sink to give you enough room to install the hot water tap.
  3. Place a bucket under your old tap and remove the old kitchen mixer tap. The bucket is there to collect any bits of water that may still be left in your system.
  4. Position your new tap in the desired place on your sink. Ensure that the tap is in reaching distance to the hot and cold water feeds, and is near a safe plug socket.
  5. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions that came with your hot tap.
  6. Use the fixings that came with the hot water tap to install the water heater under your sink. Ensure that it’s at a secured level.
  7. You’ll now need to feed the pipework from the tap to the heating unit. The pipework and the installation for it will be in the manufacturer’s instructions.
  8. Before you plug in your hot water tank, switch your water supply back on and allow the water to flow from your taps.
  9. To fill your hot water tap, turn the handle into the on position and hold for about 90 seconds. When the water boiler tank is full, water should begin to flow from your hot water tap.
  10. Switch off the tap and check for any leaks from your water tap boiler.
  11. If your boiler is watertight, you can plug the boiler into the power socket and switch it on.
  12. Read the manufacturer’s instructions for information on how to use your hot water tap.
What filter do I need?

If your filter housing is white and does not say K5 on it then you need the Calcium and Carbon filter https://intuboilingwatertaps.co.uk/product/calcium-carbon-replacement-filter/

If your filter is BLACK then you need the Deluxe Pro Filter https://intuboilingwatertaps.co.uk/product/intu-deluxe-pro-replacement-filter/

When you have changed your filter reset the filter gauge on the tank by holding in the blue temperature down arrow for 5 seconds.

What if my tank is beeping?

If your tank is beeping then it needs the reset procedure.

Reset the filter gauge on the tank by holding in the blue temperature down arrow for 5 seconds.

How do boiling water taps work?

Boiling water taps are designed to revolutionise your kitchen experience.

They are essentially a heavily insulated tank of water (sits under your sink) which is connected to a specially developed kitchen tap.

Most taps have your standard hot/cold mixed water from the right handle - with the instant hot water isolated on the left handle with a safety button.

The water is brought to near boiling point within the well insulated tank and held there for a continuous supply of hot water.

Do boiling water taps save you money?

Although the cost of the appliance, and the installation (if you’ve paid for a professional fitter) can be fairly costly, your monthly energy bills should reduce.

If you install a 4-in-1 hot tap you remove the need to purchase filtered bottle water - saving you money and also reducing your plastic usage/waste.

Are boiling water taps dangerous?
Boiling water taps are safer than you may initially think, and are less dangerous than a kettle.
 
Kettles hold boiling water and require them to be picked up, angled to pour and can be heavy when full. The convenience of a boiling water tap is that there is no need to pick up or move heavy kettles and your mug or pan can sit directly under your tap. So there is no need to handle any hot water.
 
Our INTU hot water taps have reduced pressure which prevents the hot water from splashing or spitting when in use. Another safety feature is our safety lock to stop small children from having an accident in the kitchen. This gives you added peace of mind while in your home.
Are boiling water taps compatible with a low-pressure system?

All our hot water taps are compatible with a low-pressure system.

Does flow rate drop the longer the tap is running?

If you are using our 98 degree near boiling water handle it produces 1.9 litres and the flow rate does not drop.

Our standard tanks hold 2.4 litres but once exhausted there will be a slight drop while the tank is re-heating. We also offer 4 litre tanks.

The mixer handle provides normal mains hot/cold tap water so this will depend on your own water pressure in the property.

Are boiling water taps economical?

Yes, our hot water taps are economical and energy-efficient ('A' Rated Efficiency) when compared to using a standard kettle - saving you energy, water and money.

So much water and energy is wasted by using a kettle daily especially if you pour out old pre-boiled water to re-fill the kettle before boiling again. A full kettle uses a lot of energy to heat up while a hot water tap costs a lot less and provides you with the amount of hot water required instantly.

Will boiling tap water make it taste better?

Boiling tap water is known to make water taste better yes. This is because you’re boiling away any chemicals that may be surviving in your water. However, in this country, our water is cleaned and is safe to drink, so boiling it for the taste will be a personal preference.

What are the delivery details?

If the product is in stock your order will be processed. Orders made before 1pm will be delivered the next day. Orders made past 1pm will be delivered in 2 days.

If the product is on back order your item is not in stock and there could be a delay of up to 6-8 weeks. This status means the item has been ordered but may be at different stages of shipment. If you purchase an item on back order we will contact you with the expected arrival and delivery of you product.

If the product you have purchased is out of stock we will contact you to organise either a re-fund, inform you of when the stock will be in stock for delivery or swap your order for an item in stock.

Does the boiling water tap come with a warranty?

INTU hot water taps offer the highest quality at affordable prices - allowing you to have a bit of luxury in your kitchen and no clutter.

All our taps come with a free 2 year warranty. Register your product with us online to activate the warranty. Replacing your filter at least every 6 months keeps your warranty active and safe.

5 and 7 year warranties are also available.

What if i decide to return the tap?

Most people love their INTU hot water tap as soon as it’s installed, but we know sometimes your vision may change.

You can return your tap within 60 days for no added cost. Items must be returned in it's original packaging and in perfect condition.

What is the best way to maintain the tap?

Our taps have lots of benefits if you look after them right - changing the filter at least every 6 months will keep it protected from limescale.

Replacement filters can be bought online. We also offer a filter subscription system which will automatically send you a new replacement filter when you need one.

What is the best way of cleaning the tap?

Keep your tap looking its best by using a soft cloth with warm water and afterwards rinse the tap thoroughly.

Make sure not to use any abrasive or harsh chemical products, as they could damage the tap’s finish and invalidate your guarantee.

What do i do if the tap requires any repairs?
